Its strategic location allows you to get around easily by car, bicycle or boat. Nearby, theme parks such as Gardaland and the Terme di Colà spa offer fun and wellness. With its history, nature and leisure activities, Lazise is a complete and irresistible destination for every visitor.
What to see in the village of Lazise
Of Roman origin, Lazise is now a village with a clear medieval imprint, characterised by walls, a castle, gates and narrow streets. The historic centre, rich in romantic corners and picturesque views, can be explored starting from Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II, while Corso Ospedale is perfect for shopping. The lakeside promenade is one of the most popular places for visitors, with the marina being the most photographed spot.
Among the historical attractions, the Antica Dogana Veneta, a 14th-century building that has been restored and now hosts cultural events, and the Castello Scaligero, with its crenellated walls and three entrance gates, symbolise the medieval history of Lazise. Also not to be missed are the romantic and picturesque Church of San Nicolò on the lakefront and the Church of Santi Zeno e Martino with its 19th-century works of art.
For those who love wellness, the Garda Thermal Park (Terme di Colà) offers thermal lakes surrounded by greenery, whirlpools and relaxation areas. The town's beaches and those in nearby villages, such as Pacengo, are ideal for relaxing by the lake.
Lazise is also a perfect base for the family-friendly attractions of southern Garda: Gardaland, Caneva Aquapark, Movieland and the Parco Natura Viva in Bussolengo guarantee fun for all ages. In the surrounding area, places such as Peschiera del Garda, Bardolino, Sirmione and the city of Verona make every day trip an unforgettable experience.
Events in Lazise
Lazise offers a packed calendar of events throughout the year. Among the most characteristic is the Carnevale del Marciapiè, which brings the streets of the town centre to life with festivities and merriment. At the beginning of May, the Rievocazione Storica di Ottone II (Historical Re-enactment of Otto II) transforms the village into a medieval setting with parades, ladies, musicians and horses, celebrating the town's historical primacy. In July, the Palo della Cuccagna del Cadeon offers excitement with the traditional challenge on the horizontal pole, followed by a dip in the water. In August, the Sagra della Madonna della Neve in Colà offers food, music and a funfair, while the Festa della trebbiatura e aratura (Threshing and Ploughing Festival) and the Festa dell'Ospite (Guest Festival) celebrate agricultural and food and wine traditions. In October, the International Honey Festival attracts enthusiasts from all over Europe. Finally, the Santo Stefano fireworks display and the Marcia tra le Mura (March within the Walls) close the year with excitement on the lake and in the countryside.
