Teatro San Filippo in L'Aquila officially reopens on Friday, April 17, following the baroque theatre's restoration. The reopening, after 17 years of closure, is part of L'Aquila Capital of Culture 2026. The building, owned by the Fondo Edifici di Culto, will be managed by the Municipality for six years under an agreement with the local Superintendency.
The inaugural program, titled "Costellazioni", is a territorial identity festival aiming to turn the whole municipal area into a shared stage: funded by the Extraordinary Program of the Prime Minister's Office for the redevelopment of suburbs, the project will reach 27 hamlets and neighborhoods and continue through December.
To mark the return of the theatre to the public, on Friday, April 17 the venue will be open for special visits from 11:00 to 13:00 without reservation. Free registration for performances is required and opens from 5:00 PM on Friday, April 10 via the form on www.costellazionilaquila.it, while places last.
