Grand Opera in the Villa: four operas at the Teatro di Corte of the Royal Villa of Monza

Grand Opera in the Villa premieres at the Teatro di Corte of the Royal Villa of Monza with a chamber-style season scheduled from April to June 2026. The programme presents major works adapted in opéra-comique format, with piano accompaniment, spoken passages and period costumes.

• 10 April — The Magic Flute (W.A. Mozart)
• 30 April — Madama Butterfly (G. Puccini)
• 21 May — La Traviata (G. Verdi)
• 25 June — The Barber of Seville (G. Rossini)

The artistic director is Gabriele D. G. Bolletta, with Yuka Gohda as principal accompanist. Costumes are supplied by the Sartoria Teatrale Bianchi of Milan. Each performance is preceded by a historical‑musical introduction by Silvia Corbetta to provide context and enrich audience engagement.

Organised by Villa Sormani and the Consorzio Villa Reale e Parco di Monza, with the support of the Municipality of Monza, the season aims to revive the salon tradition of intimate opera performances while highlighting the artistic and architectural heritage of the Royal Villa.

The project is backed by local businesses and fits within broader cultural promotion efforts, reflecting the recognition of operatic singing as an intangible heritage and the central role of opera in Italian cultural identity.
