Festa della Lettura 2026 in Municipio II: three months of public reading events

From April through 30 June 2026, the Festa della Lettura returns to Rome’s Municipio II. Curated by the association Il Talento di Roma in collaboration with the municipal culture office, the festival spreads meetings, book presentations and cultural activities across the city’s northern neighborhoods, from Nomentano and Parioli to the Flaminio area.

This year’s theme, “Words Beyond Borders”, uses a renewed reading of the Iliad as a starting point to explore contemporary languages and shared reading paths, bringing literature into everyday urban settings.

Main programme highlights

• Books at the Stalls: weekly encounters with authors in historic neighborhood markets (Trieste, Nomentano, Italia, Parioli, Flaminio II).
• Reading groups: three monthly sessions, the first scheduled for 14 April at 18:30 at Caffè Etablino (Piazza Perin del Vaga).
• Theatrical crossovers: readings and staged adaptations in courtyards and public spaces from mid-May, with performances in early June.
• Villa Giulia National Etruscan Museum: author talks and special events during the Night of Museums (23 May).
• Fogli(e) in Fiera: fair for small and micro independent publishers in the gardens of Villa Massimo from 19 to 21 June (free entry); 18 June features a used-book initiative.

Practical information

Events take place in independent bookstores, squares, markets and cultural institutions across Municipio II. Some sessions are free while others have variable ticketing.
