Italian Port Days 2026: ports of the Upper Tyrrhenian between culture and community

From 11 April to 29 May 2026 the ports of Livorno, Piombino, Portoferraio, Rio Marina, Cavo and Capraia take part in the Italian Port Days, promoted by Assoporti and coordinated by the Port Authority of the Northern Tyrrhenian Sea. For nearly two months the harbours open to the public with a programme combining outreach, performances, education and territorial promotion.

The 2026 edition aims to strengthen the bond between cities and their ports, offering events for both sector professionals and the general public. Key themes include maritime culture, sustainability and improved accessibility of port infrastructures.

  • Opening: Saturday 11 April in Livorno with the Student Palio at Scali del Pontino and the National Sea Day celebration at the Cruise Terminal.
  • Cultural programme in Livorno: plays, seminars and audiovisual experiments (e.g. "Sull'Oceano", "Partiture Visuali #4" and the "Demanio e attività sportiva" seminar).
  • Open ports and guided visits: activities on 24-26 April including tours of the Porto Mediceo and Livorno Lighthouse; on 25 April an itinerary in Portoferraio in collaboration with the Tuscan Archipelago National Park.
  • May highlights: music and literary festivals, theatre (including "Napoléon. Le fantôme de l'Empereur") and the start of the cruise season in Piombino on 11 May with the arrival of the ship Sirena.
  • Closing: 29 May finale at Livorno's Porto Mediceo with "Navi di Maggio e Un Mare di Amici", an event on safety, sustainability and maritime culture.

Italian Port Days 2026 offer a concrete opportunity to bring citizens and industry closer to port realities, highlighting harbours as places of relationship and promoting participatory initiatives that weave together art, education and maritime heritage.
