Inspiration Europe: a three-part exhibition series at Vicenza's Basilica Palladiana

A major exhibition project staged in Vicenza offers a panoramic view of five centuries of artistic exchange between Italy and three influential European traditions. Hosted in the Basilica Palladiana, the trilogy highlights encounters, influences and networks that shaped the continent's art history.

Curators: Gabriella Belli and Valerio Terraroli. Organized by Marsilio Arte with local institutional support.

• First exhibition: "Italy–Germany. Painting and Sculpture between the 19th and 20th centuries. From Canova to Kiefer" — running from 13 November 2026 to 2 May 2027. Around one hundred works will map the cultural dialogue from the 18th century through the postwar period.
• Second chapter: in 2027, a show focused on Italy–France relations, with emphasis on the 19th century and the birth of modern painting.
• Third chapter: in 2028, an exhibition dedicated to Italy–Spain connections, tracing influences from the 16th century to the 20th century.

Each exhibition is organized to reveal thematic and chronological links between movements and individual artists: from the Grand Tour and Neoclassicism, through the avant-gardes and 20th-century developments, to contemporary practices. The project brings together major names and lesser-known works that illuminate cross-border artistic dynamics.
