Sodoma at Museo Accorsi-Ometto: practical information

The Museo di Arti Decorative Accorsi-Ometto on via Po in Turin presents a monographic exhibition on Giovanni Antonio Bazzi, known as Sodoma, open until 6 September 2026. The display focuses on the artist's early production and reconstructs his artistic development with more than 50 works from public and private collections.

Curated by Serena D'Italia, Luca Mana and Vittorio Natale, the exhibition is divided into seven sections following key stages of Bazzi's training, from his apprenticeship in Vercelli to Lombard and Roman influences and finally his mature masterpieces.

Works and major loans

  • More than 50 works from important Italian and international institutions;
  • Loans from Accademia Carrara, Pinacoteca di Brera, the Vatican Museums, Galleria Borghese and Musée Jacquemart-André;
  • A dedicated film illustrates Sodoma's main fresco cycles (Sant'Anna in Camprena, Monteoliveto cloister, etc.).

Exhibition layout

  • Section 1: apprenticeship in Spanzotti's workshop (original apprenticeship contract on display);
  • Following sections: influence of Lombard painting and contacts with Milanese painters in the Leonardesque orbit;
  • Section on central Italian Renaissance and the impact of Bernardino di Betto;
  • Final section: mature works, including notable pieces such as the "Death of Lucretia".
