The Ferrucciano Museum in Gavinana is expanding its holdings with the arrival of the Mariani Manes collection. The materials are due to arrive on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, and consist of a perpetual deposit of 144 items including rare documents, historical photographs, magazines, books and memorabilia focused on Florentine popular traditions, especially the Calcio Storico and historical ties to Francesco Ferrucci.
The collection was assembled by collector Claudio Mariani Manes, a long-time enthusiast of Florentine history and participant in the city's historical parade. With the support of the museum's scientific curator, Alessandro Monti, the collection will be conserved, researched and promoted within the Ferrucciano's permanent holdings.
The municipal administration and the cultural department welcomed the agreement with the collector, highlighting the value of initiatives that strengthen Gavinana's links with Tuscan history. The museum's recent reopening has already encouraged renewed collaborations and the activation of shared heritage projects.
The Mariani Manes deposit offers opportunities for researchers, enthusiasts and visitors interested in Florentine popular traditions and the historical dimension of Calcio Storico and Francesco Ferrucci. For updates on public presentations or temporary exhibitions related to the new collection, check the Ferrucciano Museum's official communications.
