Lake Garda meets Lower Saxony's Parliamentary Tourism Committee

Sirmione, April 24, 2026. A 14-member delegation from the Tourism Committee of the Niedersächsischer Landtag visited Lake Garda for discussions with Garda Unico and local authorities on challenges and best practices for tourism destinations.

The meeting, held at the Grand Hotel Terme in Sirmione, brought together Garda Unico president Stefania Lorenzoni, director Gianluca Ginepro, Sirmione mayor Luisa Lavelli and tourism councillor Riccardo Genovesi. The dialogue focused on strategic topics for high-attractiveness destinations.

• Sustainability and climate adaptation: measures to protect natural areas and adapt tourism offers.
• Visitor flow management: tools and projects to balance visitor numbers and residents' quality of life.
• Soft mobility: integrating cycle networks and sustainable transport solutions.
• Staff shortages: policies and training programmes for tourism operators.

The German delegation selected Lake Garda, Venice and South Tyrol as "model destinations" to gather transferable practices. President Lorenzoni called the exchange "very useful and constructive," emphasizing the need to reconcile economic growth, environmental protection and residents' well-being.

Next steps: continued exchanges with European counterparts, on-site visits and potential technical collaborations on sustainability and training initiatives.
