Gorizia: Museum of Fashion and Applied Arts inaugurated

On 17 April 2026 the Museum of Fashion and Applied Arts was inaugurated in Gorizia, housed in the historic Borgo Castello 13 building. The renewed museum offers a structured exhibition path designed to showcase the local textile tradition and significant historical collections with clarity and contextualization.

The displays follow a chronological itinerary from the 18th century to the early 20th century, combining garments and accessories with paintings and objects from the provincial collections to enhance interpretation.

• Textile section: emphasis on silk production, a key economic activity in the County of Gorizia during the 18th and 19th centuries.
• History of fashion: a European-level collection of garments and accessories illustrating costume development between the 18th and early 20th centuries.
• From secular to sacred: a section dedicated to the heritage of the Monastery of Sant'Orsola, including liturgical vestments, paintings and church furnishings.

The reopening is part of broader efforts to enhance regional cultural heritage and has benefited from investments linked to the national recovery plan (PNRR). The museum strengthens Gorizia's cultural offer and its role within the European Capital of Culture framework.
