Exhibition overview

Spazio Sferocromia presents the first solo show by Manuela Scannavini, a multidisciplinary project combining painting, printmaking, installation and video to investigate the connection between sound and sign. The artist converts musical experience into a visual language defined by rhythm, texture and materiality, producing abstract, tactile works that evoke inner landscapes.

Video works and collaborations

Two videos complement the exhibition: the first, directed by Jacopo Brucculeri with cinematography by Lorenzo Lattanzi and choreography by Giulia Rosolin, features gymnast Sofia Biancari; the second documents the artist’s creative process with narration by Francesca Ritrovato. Music by Maestro Carmelo Travia acts as the emotional trigger for the paintings on view.

Techniques and materials

The works employ oil, acrylic, pigments and textured materials such as plaster, natural fibers, linoleum, biochar, marble dust, lotus leaves, lost-wax gold leaf and fabrics, applied on paper and canvas to create rich surface textures.

Curator and publication

The exhibition includes a critical essay by Eugenia Querci framing Scannavini’s work as an exploration of relations with the other. A catalogue edited by Raffaella Polverini and published by Al3viE documents the artist’s twenty-year practice.
