International House Museums Days: 39 openings in Tuscany
On 18 and 19 April 2026 Tuscany takes part in the second edition of the International House Museums Days, a global initiative that brings together over 400 house museums worldwide (more than 150 in Italy). In the region 39 sites — from birthplaces and artist studios to historic villas — will open their doors to the public.
Dates: 18–19 April 2026
Reservations: available until 15 April via the official portal of the National Association of Houses of Memory. Some venues require mandatory booking or have specific opening hours.
What to expect
- Free or reduced-price visits and extraordinary openings of casas and studios.
- Guided tours, workshops, audio guides and themed presentations.
- Insights into the lives and work of figures from literature, art, music and science.
Selected participating venues in Tuscany
Examples of participating sites include:
- Florence: Casa Museo Franco e Lidia Luciani, Gino Bartali Cycling Museum, Piero Bargellini's studio, Villa La Pietra (New York University), Casa Guidi (note: some visits may be scheduled on different days).
- Province of Florence: Casa del Pontormo (Empoli), Ferruccio Busoni's birthplace (Empoli), Leonardo da Vinci's birthplace in Anchiano (Vinci), Giovanni Boccaccio House Museum (Certaldo) and other historic homes.
- Arezzo area: Ivan Bruschi House Museum; nearby openings include Michelangelo's birthplace in Caprese and the Pietro Annigoni Museum in Anghiari.
- Lucca and surroundings: Puccini Museum – birthplace, Giovanni Pascoli House Museum (Castelvecchio Pascoli), Giacomo Puccini Villa Museum in Viareggio, among others.
- Other areas: Carducci House Museums (Castagneto Carducci and Santa Maria a Monte), Dante House Museum in Lunigiana, Leonetto Tintori House Museum (Prato), Ugo Guidi House Museum (Forte dei Marmi), Gianfranco Luzzetti Collection Museum (Grosseto) and more.
