FAI Spring Days 2026: 780 sites open across Italy

The 34th edition of the FAI Spring Days will be held on Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 March 2026. Presented in the Sala Spadolini at the Ministry of Culture, the event reaffirms the Fondo per l'Ambiente Italiano's role in promoting Italy's cultural heritage.

  • Dates: 21–22 March 2026
  • Open sites: 780 in 400 towns
  • Apprentice Guides: 17,000 students involved
  • Access: visits on a free-contribution basis; some sites may require booking

The programme features historic villas, noble palaces, secret gardens, archives, churches, disused industrial sites and small villages. All Italian regions take part, with a focus on giving visibility to lesser-known places, especially in inner areas.

The Apprentice Guides project highlights the educational aspect: thousands of students, after training, will guide visitors and tell the stories of the opened sites. For many young participants it is a first experience of public presentation and civic engagement.

To take part, check the official FAI website in the weeks before the event for the full list of sites, opening hours and booking information. FAI members typically receive priority access and special openings.

FAI Spring Days offer a hands-on way to value cultural heritage and promote more sustainable tourism, encouraging citizens to discover and care for the places around them.
