On Saturday, April 18, 2026, the ground floor of the Allende Pavilion at Morgagni–Pierantoni Hospital in Forlì hosted the inauguration of Italy's first experiential corridor dedicated to public healthcare art. The initiative aims to reframe hospitals as cultural and mnemonic spaces in addition to care facilities.
Funded by the Emilia-Romagna Region through FESR 2021-2027, the corridor is part of a wider distributed museum network that covers 75 municipalities and spans nine centuries of history. The project combines physical displays with digital content to promote inclusive access.
Sonia Muzzarelli, curator of Ausl Romagna's artistic heritage, noted the corridor stems from a survey work begun about 30 years ago and seeks to make the region's cultural assets widely accessible to patients and visitors alike. Institutional and cultural figures attended the opening, underscoring the link between care, memory and community.
The experiential corridor is presented as a model for the intersection of culture and well-being, aiming to enhance the educational and identity-building role of healthcare spaces while preserving clinical functions.
