For Earth Day 2026, Crotone hosts two events focused on coastal protection and safeguarding archaeological sites at Capo Colonna. Activities include a field walk with a guided visit and a scientific conference open to the public.

Practical programme

• Friday, 19 April 2026 – 09:00: Eco-walk and guided visit to the Capo Colonna Archaeological Park. Meeting point: parking area of the National Archaeological Museum of Capo Colonna. The walk combines site enhancement with environmental awareness activities.
• Saturday, 20 April 2026 – 17:30: Conference titled “Marine erosion at archaeological sites of the Ionian coast of Calabria”, at the Council Chamber (Sala Consiliare) of the Municipality of Crotone. Open to the public, featuring experts discussing risks and protection measures.

Speakers and main topics

The conference addresses causes and effects of marine erosion on coastal archaeological areas. Scheduled contributions include:
