GEA 2076: an open-air museum imagining 2076

GEA 2076 – Memories from the Future is an installation-museum created by artist Alessandro Calizza for Greenpeace Italy that turns Piazza San Cosimato in Rome into an immersive space focused on the climate crisis. The project asks visitors to picture the consequences of today's environmental choices fifty years ahead.

Practical information

When: free entry from April 10 to April 12, 2026, daily from 10:00 to 20:00. Where: Piazza San Cosimato, Rome. The inauguration takes place on Friday, April 10 at 11:00 with the artist and Greenpeace Italy's executive director in attendance.

Structure and themes

The work functions as a time machine: three interconnected, accessible and interactive areas guide visitors through causes and responsibilities behind the climate crisis, while also outlining alternative scenarios based on prevention and more attentive territorial policies.

Weekend program

  • Friday, April 10, 11:00: opening ceremony with public speeches and the release of updated data on the cost of the climate crisis in the Lazio region.
  • Saturday, April 11, 11:00–18:00: children's workshops (recommended from age 6) in collaboration with the bookstore Tic – Libri e cose fantastiche; at 18:00 a symbolic event called "The Green Ark".
  • Sunday, April 12, 18:30–20:00: "Senza Parole Live", a public discussion on eco-anxiety and urban living spaces featuring speakers from different fields and live drawing by author Alec Trenta.

Next stops

GEA 2076 will become an itinerant project: the exhibition moves to Padua from April 17 to 19, 2026, and then to Bari from May 22 to 24, 2026. Event dates and times may be updated online.

The installation is suitable for a broad audience: families, schools, citizens interested in environmental issues and anyone looking for creative ways to understand impacts and responsibilities related to climate change.
