The Tito Balestra Foundation in Longiano opens a solo exhibition dedicated to Franco Fanelli, a leading figure in contemporary Italian printmaking. The show, installed in the former Madonna di Loreto church within the Castello Malatestiano, traces a coherent path through more than forty years of intaglio practice (1983–2025).
Opening: Saturday 18 April 2026, 17:00, with the artist in attendance. Exhibition period: on view until 14 June 2026.
The exhibition presents Fanelli’s intaglio technique as both a physical and psychological excavation: copper plates bear abrasions, corrections and layered material interventions that shape imagery ranging from petrified, metamorphic landscapes to literary-inspired portraits and monumental, archaeological motifs. The selection highlights recurring literary references and the artist’s longstanding interest in late antiquity and sedimented archeologies.
Practical note: check the Foundation’s official channels for updated visiting hours and information on guided tours before planning your visit.
