FMS Academy: six internships in the Siena museum network

The Fondazione Musei Senesi has launched FMS Academy, activating six internships aimed at recent graduates to be carried out in several museums across the province of Siena. The initiative pairs a shared training module with operational activities on site to support entry into the cultural sector.

Programme objectives

• Heritage interpretation: enhance collections and historical contexts for contemporary audiences.
• Museum communication: strengthen digital tools for access and promotion.
• Accessibility and engagement: design inclusive routes for diverse audiences.
• Sustainability: adopt management practices compatible with the territory and conservation of heritage.

Training format

The course includes one month of lessons with lecturers and professionals on topics such as digital communication, heritage interpretation, accessibility, sustainability and visitor technologies. The approach is practical and interdisciplinary, with direct application in host venues.

Duration and prospects

The internships are scheduled for six months, with potential extension for an additional six months. The aim is to ease professional entry via hands-on experience, network building with local administrations and partners, and practical application of acquired skills.
