Fivos Valachis: Greece as a cultural bridge between Athens and Turin

At the 38th edition of the Turin International Book Fair, held from 14 to 18 May 2026, Greece appears not merely as the guest country but as a contemporary, engaging presence. Fivos Valachis, Honorary Consul of Greece in Turin, embodies a vision that links memory and creation through cultural diplomacy.

Born in Athens and living in Turin since 1977, Valachis recounts his relationship with the city and Italian culture: music as his primary means of integration, and a career that blends science, business and cultural activity. As he states, "For me Greece is never only the past. It is living matter, research, experiment, a bridge between memory and contemporaneity".
