To celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Republic, authorities have planned a public event in Piazza del Quirinale. The initiative aims to turn the traditional commemoration into a communal celebration, featuring an evening show and institutional ceremonies over two days.

Main schedule

• 1 June, morning: opening of the Quirinale Gardens to associations and protected categories (people with disabilities and the elderly).
• 1 June, afternoon: solemn changing of the guard with the Reggimento Corazzieri and, at 18:00, a concert for the diplomatic corps.
• 1 June, evening from 21:00: a public show in Piazza del Quirinale with readings, speeches and musical performances retracing the Republic's decades.
• 2 June, morning: homage at the Altar of the Fatherland, a flypast by the national aerobatic team and the military parade at the Roman Fora.

Guests and content

The evening in the square will feature personalities from culture, cinema and music, invited to represent the "faces of the Republic" through performances and readings. The programme is designed as a chronological narrative of key historical moments, from the constituent assembly and post-war recovery to the more challenging chapters that shaped the nation.
