Piazzo admitted to Italy’s Most Beautiful Villages

On the morning of Saturday 11 April 2026, an official ceremony at Palazzo Gromo Losa marked the entry of Piazzo into the Italy’s Most Beautiful Villages association. The designation recognises the quarter’s historical, architectural and scenic value and represents an important milestone for Biella.

The event saw participation from local authorities, delegations from other Piedmontese villages already part of the network, and the national association’s representatives who guided the candidacy and evaluation process.

Benefits for the area

Joining the network promotes coordinated heritage promotion and creates opportunities for joint initiatives involving local institutions, associations and cultural operators.

  • Visibility: Piazzo enters a national and international showcase for village tourism.
  • Collaboration: opportunities for shared projects with other villages and access to regional networks.
  • Enhancement: increased momentum for conservation of historic buildings and cultural activities.

The mayor highlighted that the recognition reflects years of work and opens a new phase for promoting the city. The deputy mayor emphasised how network membership will help present coordinated project proposals and engage local communities.

Next steps

In the coming months, the municipality and local stakeholders can develop tourism promotion plans, maintenance projects and cultural programmes aimed at further enhancing the Piazzo quarter.

Visitor note: the new status is an invitation to explore Piazzo’s streets, historic palaces and viewpoints, now part of a dedicated effort to safeguard and promote Italy’s small historic centres.
