Liberation Day in Ferrara: April 25 programme

On Saturday 25 April Ferrara offers a day of commemoration and cultural events: from an exhibition at the Estense Castle to official ceremonies in the city centre and an afternoon concert in Piazza Municipale.

• 10:00 - Exhibition: "Per non dimenticare" ("Lest We Forget") on the low wall of the Estense Castle (facing Corso Martiri della Libertà), open from 10:00 to 19:00, organized by the Institute of Contemporary History.
• 09:55 - Authorities arrive: in Piazza Cattedrale, followed at 10:00 by the flag-raising with military honours and the laying of wreaths at the War Memorial (Torre della Vittoria).
• 10:10 - Official ceremony: speeches by local representatives and associations: Davide Alagna (Provincial Student Council), Francesco Bertelli (veterans' associations), Roberto Cassoli (ANPI), Marco Gulinelli (councillor for Culture) and Prefect Massimo Marchesiello. In case of bad weather the ceremony will move to Galleria Matteotti.
• 11:00 - Religious service: Mass in the Cathedral celebrated by Bishop Gian Carlo Perego. A bouquet of red roses will be placed on the tomb of Mons. Ruggero Bovelli before the service.
• 16:15 - Concert: performance by the Ludovico Ariosto Municipal Philharmonic Band conducted by Maestro Stefano Caleffi in Piazza Municipale.
• 17:45 - Lowering of the flag: official closing of the commemorations.

The programme combines institutional moments and public cultural initiatives, with a focus on historical memory and local testimony.
