Liberation Day 2026 in Emilia‑Romagna

On 25 April, marking 81 years since Liberation, Emilia‑Romagna hosts a broad programme across its cultural and memorial sites. Municipalities, historical institutes and associations organise commemorations, concerts, theatrical actions, treks, debates and school activities aimed at reflecting on peace and civic coexistence.

Museum access: state museums and archaeological parks will offer free admission on the day, with visits during normal opening hours and booking where required. A thematic site by the regional network of historical institutes and the Ministry of Culture portal provide the complete calendar of events.

Key appointments on 25 April:

• San Martino di Monte Sole (BO): commemoration of the Marzabotto massacre victims from 10:15, with interventions by Concita De Gregorio and Luciana Castellina, a concert by Coro Farthan and the unveiling of the sculpture PaperBomb.
• Bologna: the Parri Historical Institute opens for a full day of events and presents the new online platform "OpenParri" at 14:30.
• San Lazzaro di Savena: the Mediateca displays the graphic novel plates from "Nuvole e fieno" by Otto Gabos until 30 April.
• Cesena: ceremonies at the Commonwealth Military Cemetery and an urban procession to the Resistance monument.
• Ferrara: commemorations, historical talks and an evening lighting of the Estense Castle.
• Forlì: after institutional ceremonies, the Parco della Resistenza hosts a popular Liberation Day festival from 15:30 and a municipal band concert; an exhibition at the Sacrario ai Caduti runs until 26 April.
• Modena and province: events by local institutes, the University and ANPI, with activities at Campo di Fossoli and the Museum‑Monument to the Deported.
• Parma: students' procession from 9:00 and a collective bicycle tour of memory sites at 14:30.
• Piacenza: celebrations continue until 26 April, with a "Trekking urbano della Liberazione" on Sunday afternoon.
• Ravenna: "Nel Senio della Memoria" walk from Alfonsine and Cotignola; meeting at Ca' di Malanca with the authors of the graphic novel "Verità".
• Reggio Emilia: Gattatico hosts the Liberation Day at Casa Cervi, with outdoor concerts and museum openings.
• Rimini: guided commemorative walk along the Montegridolfo battle ring and other local events.

The regional communication project "Quella fede che ci accompagna" also publishes videos and material to promote memory education and to highlight organizations that keep Resistance values alive throughout the year.
