Este, Area Olmo: archaeological excavations begin

A research campaign has started at the archaeological area known as "All’Olmo" in the Municipality of Este, carried out in collaboration with the University of Verona and authorized by the Ministry of Culture. The investigations take place from 4 to 29 May 2026 and aim to reconstruct the route of the Decumanus, the main Roman east–west street adjacent to the Forum area.

The excavation is preparatory to the enhancement project for the future Parco dell'Olmo, planned as more than a green area: a cultural hub with educational activities and community participation events.

Open guided visits

Residents, schools and visitors can attend free guided tours led by the archaeologists to view the progress of the investigations and the finds. Scheduled dates are:

  • Friday 22 May 2026 — 1st slot: 16:30-17:15; 2nd slot: 17:30-18:15

Related urban restoration

The aim is to return an accessible green space integrated with local historical memory.
