Parco del Monviso offers four field walks to learn about lichens in their natural habitat. The outings are open to everyone, including those who did not attend the online course, and are led by Greta Rao Torres, an environmental biology specialist focused on lichen research.
The walks take place on Sunday, April 12 and Sunday, April 19, 2026, with two sessions each day: departures at 9:30 AM and 1:00 PM. Each session lasts about 3 hours. Meet 15 minutes before in front of Rifugio La Galaberna in Ostana to park and organize car sharing.
After a short drive toward the Sant’Antonio hamlet, the lichen walk continues on foot through the woods to observe lichens in situ. The activity combines scientific insights with hands-on observation.
The walks coincide with the Settimana Verde by Ambiente Mare Italia, a program of events focused on environmental protection and ecological culture.
Note: recommended for nature lovers and anyone interested in learning about these key symbiotic organisms in the ecosystem.
