Inclusive visits at the Herculaneum Archaeological Park for Mother's Day

For Mother's Day the Herculaneum Archaeological Park is organizing a morning of inclusive tours aimed at families, schools and visitors with sensory accessibility needs. Sessions are designed to provide a safe cultural experience assisted by trained staff.

  • When: Sunday 10 May 2026, 09:00–14:00 (five morning slots)
  • Tour length: about 1 hour 30 minutes
  • Group size: up to 25 participants per slot
  • Who it's for: families, primary and lower secondary schools, visitors seeking accessible tours, people on the autism spectrum
  • Price: free with the regular admission ticket (standard reductions and free entry rules apply)
  • Reservation: mandatory through the "Culture Without Barriers" project on coopculture.it
  • Location: Herculaneum Archaeological Park — Corso Resina 187, 80056 Ercolano (NA), Italy

Visits are arranged to limit sensory overload: supported routes, small groups and shorter duration promote a calm participation. The Park provides technologies and educational activities to support neurodiverse needs.

  • Features and activities: interactive digital guide "Adventure in Herculaneum", augmented reality and beacons along the route, educational games, hands-on activities (e.g. mosaic assembly), virtual restoration experiences and virtual coin collecting, tablets provided by the Park or an app available for iPad.

The initiative is part of the "Culture Without Barriers" project, aimed at making cultural sites more welcoming and usable. For practical details and bookings, see the dedicated section of coopculture.it.

Practical tip: wear comfortable clothing and arrive a few minutes before the scheduled check-in to facilitate group entry.
