To mark National Landscape Day, the Herculaneum Archaeological Park is offering a thematic walk that examines how the Vesuvius area changed from ancient times to the present. The route, titled "Landscapes through time: Vesuvius and surroundings", uses the archaeological site as a viewpoint to read both natural and cultural features of the territory.
Participants will follow a path among streets, houses and panoramic points within the ancient city, focusing on the interaction between people and environment—how inhabitants organised space, made use of local resources and how landscape perceptions and uses have evolved over centuries.
Visitors are advised to arrive a few minutes before the scheduled start at the meeting point indicated when booking. The walk is suitable for both locals and tourists and aims to promote a broader understanding of the archaeological area as a living cultural landscape.
From 16 March the Park will adopt its summer opening hours: 8:30–19:30 with the last admission at 18:00, offering more opportunities to explore the ancient streets and the surrounding views.
