The Museo del Violino in Cremona has added a new donation by artist Domenica Regazzoni. The sculpture, titled "Sol-Re-La-Mi", will be presented on Tuesday, April 14, in an event combining visual art and live music.
The sculpture is crafted in brass and corten steel and embodies Regazzoni’s investigation of the relationship between luthier craft and musical abstraction, a theme she describes as "From wood to sound." The work will be placed alongside the museum’s historic and contemporary collections, fostering a dialogue across generations and artistic disciplines.
Domenica Regazzoni, born in 1953 in Valsassina, works between Milan and Lombardy. Her practice spans painting and sculpture and includes numerous exhibitions and publications centered on music and poetry. Several of her public works are on permanent display in Italy and abroad.
The presentation at the Museo del Violino highlights the family connection to lutherie: her father, Dante Paolo Regazzoni, is represented in the museum’s collection among Lombard masters of the late 20th century, while violinist Alessio Bidoli, performing at the recital, reflects the family’s ongoing musical legacy.
Visitors interested in further information can consult the museum’s resources; admission to the presentation is free and open to the public.
