In June 2026 sculptor Jago will present a solo exhibition at Villa Lysis on Capri. The project aims to establish a conversation between contemporary works and the historic setting, using the villa as a platform to highlight the island's cultural and architectural heritage.
Villa Lysis, built in the early 20th century near Monte Tiberio, features Liberty and neoclassical interiors, panoramic terraces and distinctive rooms such as the so-called "Chinese room." Jago's interventions will be distributed across different floors and outdoor areas, creating site-specific dialogues with rooms, decoration and landscape views.
The exhibition follows the artist's recent projects, which often combine art with social engagement and heritage recovery. His previous activities include reopening and repurposing historic sites and creating community-oriented cultural spaces—an approach reflected in the Capri proposal.
Timing: June 2026 (exact dates and opening hours to be announced by the organizers). Villa Lysis is accessible on foot from the island centre via a roughly 40-minute uphill walk from Marina Grande; in summer this route can be demanding.
For contemporary art audiences, the show offers an opportunity to see how an exhibition can connect artworks, historical context and local community, giving renewed visibility to a challenging but significant heritage site.
