The Archaeological Park of Herculaneum has launched a fundraising campaign to finance the restoration of Villa Sora, a Roman residence from the late Republican period overlooking the sea and partly affected by the 79 AD eruption. The campaign uses Art Bonus, which grants donors a tax credit equal to 65% of the donated amount, distributed over three annual installments.
The funds will support conservation and rehabilitation works to protect architectural features, decorative elements and archaeological evidence, restoring scientific value and visitor access to the site.
Villa Sora is an important piece of the Vesuvian historic landscape: its frescoes, mosaics and monumental rooms tell the story of a seaside Roman domus and relate to the nearby Thermal Gymnasium complex. Community-funded restoration helps safeguard local heritage and reopens these places to residents and visitors.
Contributions can be made through the Art Bonus platform, following the procedures to donate to the Archaeological Park of Herculaneum. In addition to the 65% tax advantage, donations directly support research, conservation and increased accessibility.
