Replaced is a photographic and cinematic project by Diana Markosian that investigates the end of relationships, the interplay of presence and absence, and how memories reshape intimate places.
Presented as a world premiere, the exhibition merges still images with a specially produced film for the museum space. The work alternates single frames and split-screen montages to broaden narrative time and heighten emotional resonance.
Markosian stages scenes performed by an actor to probe how desire and narrative reconfigure recollection. Everyday gestures and episodes of rupture are treated as fragments of a past re-edited through contemporary vision, tracing attachment, separation and the afterlife of love.
The project is accompanied by an artist's book that expands the exhibition's themes. A public programme of free events will run alongside the show; the opening session features a conversation between the artist and curator followed by a book signing.
Why go: Replaced is a significant intersection of documentary style and staged narrative, relevant for audiences interested in contemporary photography, visual storytelling and the dialogue between still and moving images.
