Diamanda Galás opens Il Rumore del Lutto 2026 in Parma

The Il Rumore del Lutto festival launches its twentieth edition with a concert by Diamanda Galás, who returns to Italy after nearly a decade. The opening performance is designed as a flagship event for an autumn programme that blends artistic research, live performance and cultural reflection on mourning and memory.

  • Venue: Auditorium Paganini, Via Toscana 5/a, Parma
  • Date: 26/09/2026
  • Time: not available
  • Price: not available
  • Tickets: available through official channels (TicketOne and the festival website)

Trained in classical and jazz traditions, Diamanda Galás is renowned for an extreme, performative vocal language that spans composition, installation and vocal research. Her work combines political urgency, social themes and a rigorous exploration of the dramatic and physical potential of voice and piano.

Recently she revisited and expanded her catalogue: in November 2025 she released an updated edition of You Must Be Certain of the Devil and De-formation: Second Piano Variations, a live, intimate piano reworking recorded in an underground auditorium that highlights the ritual and physical dimension of her music. The Parma concert is expected to feature these newer pieces alongside highlights from her career.

Il Rumore del Lutto Festival, promoted by cultural associations and supported by local institutions, aims to create a space for cultural debate on death and commemorative practices: the 2026 programme includes performances, talks and interdisciplinary projects across the city.

For full programme updates and practical information, check the festival's official channels.
