From Vienna to Rome: AI-driven Video Installation Enhances “The Marvels of the Habsburgs”

The exhibition brings a curated selection of more than fifty works from the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna to Italy for the first time, offering a broad overview of European painting from the Renaissance to the Baroque. Complementing the canvases, an immersive audiovisual production employs contemporary technologies to shed new light on the museum’s architectural and cultural identity.

• Featured artists include Peter Paul Rubens, Diego Velázquez, Jan Brueghel the Elder, Anthony van Dyck, Lucas Cranach, Titian, Tintoretto, Paolo Veronese, Arcimboldo, and Orazio Gentileschi.
• Special display: selected objects from the Kunstkammer, showcasing cabinets of curiosities and imperial collecting practices.

The immersive video installation, produced by Casta Diva Art&Show, uses artificial intelligence tools to recreate historical settings and figures in a visually engaging and researched manner. The piece stages an imagined dialogue between the Roman architect Antonio Cipolla and the designers of the Kunsthistorisches Museum, creating a narrative link between Rome’s and Vienna’s architectural histories.

Textual research and scripting were developed by a dedicated editorial team, while direction coordinated the audiovisual staging to balance historical accuracy with contemporary storytelling. The installation acts as a bridge between memory and new cultural formats, aimed at engaging diverse audiences and providing an accessible interpretation of the collection.
