Cremona starts participatory process for its bid as Italian Capital of Culture 2029
On 14 May 2026 Cremona initiated a series of working tables to draft the dossier for its bid to be named Italian Capital of Culture 2029. The process, led by the municipal administration and supported by Itinerari Paralleli Impresa Sociale, involved over 60 associations, institutions and cultural actors from the province.
The meetings took place across key local cultural venues with the aim of gathering ideas and proposals to build a shared narrative highlighting the city's heritage, identity and future vision.
- Venues: Centro Fumetto Andrea Pazienza, Informagiovani, the Pinacoteca's educational lab, Natural History Museum, Palazzo Affaitati (Sala Manfredini).
- Thematic tables: Identity, Strengths, Challenges and Criticalities, Relations and Territories.
- Main participants: Mayor Andrea Virgilio; Culture Councillor Rodolfo Bona and Tourism Councillor Luca Burgazzi; Itinerari Paralleli; more than 60 local associations.
The administration emphasizes the aim to produce a dossier that goes beyond recounting the past and outlines a forward-looking vision for Cremona as a European, inclusive and dynamic city, using culture as a driver of development and social cohesion. Further listening and co-design sessions are planned in the coming months.
