CHriZ at Bari: "Letteral–mente" from 21 May to 13 June 2026
Opening: Thursday 21 May at 6:00 PM at Galleria SanGiorgioArte (via Sparano 79, Bari).
The solo exhibition Letteral–mente showcases CHriZ's latest work, where the alphabet becomes sculptural material. Letters are used not as words but as visual building blocks: layered, repeated and compressed to form faces, bodies and typographic landscapes.
- Dates: 21 May – 13 June 2026
- Venue: Galleria SanGiorgioArte, via Sparano 79, Bari
- Visiting hours:
- Tuesday–Friday: 10:00–13:00; 16:00–19:00
- Saturday: 10:30–12:30; 16:30–19:30
CHriZ's working method is almost ritualistic: surfaces are built through repeated manual gestures of alphabetic signs, without a predefined sketch. From a distance the works read as recognisable figures; up close they dissolve into fragmented typographic textures. The artist mainly uses large black glossy metal panels, where light and viewpoint alter the viewer's perception.
The exhibition includes key series such as:
- Portraits: faces emerging from letter density;
- Masks: identities at the border between visible and hidden;
- Invisible Code / Words: typographic structures suggesting undecipherable identities.
The catalogue is curated by Rosa Anna Pucciarelli (Academy of Fine Arts of Bari) and will be presented at the opening with critical insights on the project.
Brief bio: born in 1970, CHriZ grew up close to typographic craft and for over a decade has developed a practice that turns language into visual matter. His exhibitions and collaborations span Dubai, Berlin, London, Paris and various Italian events.
"Letteral–mente" is recommended for visitors interested in experimental graphic research and reflections on identity through the transformation of written signs into visual presence.
