Autore: Redazione 24/08/2025 12:36

The village of Castagnole delle Lanze lies among the gentle hills between the Langhe and Monferrato, where visitors can enjoy landscapes of rare beauty.

The orderly vineyards stretch as far as the eye can see, drawing unique geometric patterns that change with every season, updating the colors that define a panorama unlike any other.

Walking through the village means authentically experiencing the history of the place, rooted in nature and centuries-old traditions that shape the daily life of Castagnole delle Lanze’s inhabitants.

What to see in Castagnole delle Lanze

The historic heart of the village is full of artistic and historical treasures, ready to offer unique glimpses at every corner. The Clock Tower, which dominates the center, is one of the most beloved symbols and offers an incredible view over the surrounding hills.

Not to be missed is also the Parish Church of San Pietro in Vincoli, an example of Piedmontese Baroque architecture, which preserves works of great historical value and represents an important spiritual landmark for the entire community.

Also worth visiting is the Tower of the Remembrance Park, built by Count Paolo Ballada di Saint Robert, a scientist and eclectic figure of the 19th century who stayed in Castagnole delle Lanze, as an observation point for his astronomical studies.

Along Via Ener Bettica, the colorful arcades reproduce the hues of nature, the seasons, the vine, and wine. In the surrounding hamlets, visitors can also find numerous rural chapels: San Nicolao, San Defendente, Carossi, Annunziata, and San Grato.

Traditions and events

Castagnole delle Lanze is a lively village, proud of its historic traditions, and hosts important cultural and musical events that make it dynamic throughout the year.

A key event for the entire community is the Festa della Barbera e dei vini di Langa e Monferrato, held in spring, which attracts enthusiasts and experts from all over Italy.

Also worth experiencing is the Hazelnut Fair in August, one of the oldest in Italy, offering top-level gastronomic tastings.

Other important events include the Festival Contro, a music festival held in August, and Nero Sublime Festival in June, dedicated to the summer black truffle, offering an immersive experience in authentic flavors.

During the Christmas season, the open-air exhibition Il Paese dei Presepi transforms the village into a unique festive atmosphere, with hundreds of nativity scenes created by citizens, associations, and schools. The village also hosts the project “Adopt a Row in the Lanze”, launched in 2010, which allows wine lovers to “adopt” a row of Barbera vines and receive bottles with personalized labels in return.

Exploring the surroundings of the village

The location of the village is perfect for explorers, as Castagnole delle Lanze is surrounded by UNESCO World Heritage vineyards. Just a few kilometers away, visitors can also explore the villages of Neive and Barbaresco, famous for their vineyards and historic wineries.
