Excavation campaign at the All'Olmo site in Este (PD) — 4–29 May 2026

An archaeological excavation is underway in the area known as All'Olmo, within the municipality of Este in the Province of Padua. Conducted in collaboration with the University of Verona and authorized by the Ministry of Culture, the campaign aims to reconstruct the Roman decumanus and plan the public enhancement of the site.

Campaign details

  • Period: 4 May 2026 - 29 May 2026
  • Main objectives: investigation and reconstruction of the decumanus, documentation of finds and stratigraphy for historical research, preparation of conservation and public access measures (future Parco dell'Olmo).
  • Coordination: scientific team with the University of Verona and technical staff authorized by the Ministry of Culture.

Guided public visits

To allow visitors to observe excavation work and learn about archaeological methods, guided tours led by archaeologists and technicians are scheduled.

Territorial impact and enhancement plans

The investigations will support the mapping of the ancient Roman layout and the development of the Parco dell'Olmo, intended as a new green area and cultural hub with educational activities for the local community. Ancillary works are planned for the nearby Parco di Palazzo Contarini to improve planting, accessibility and preservation of historic structures.
