CHriZ — Letteral-mente: solo show at Galleria SanGiorgioArte
Opening: 21 May 2026 at 18:00. Exhibition period: until 13 June 2026. Venue: Galleria SanGiorgioArte, via Sparano 79, Bari.
The exhibition Letteral-mente gathers recent works by CHriZ, an artist who treats letters as the basic units of visual construction. Letters lose their purely linguistic function and become material: repeated, layered and compressed signs give rise to faces, bodies and typographic landscapes that change with the viewer's perspective.
Works are produced by manually applying alphabetic marks onto large glossy black metal panels; from a distance they read as coherent figures, up close they break into dense graphic textures. The creative process is gradual and ritual-like, with images emerging without a predetermined sketch.
The exhibition catalogue is curated by Rosa Anna Pucciarelli, who will introduce the opening with remarks on vision, reflection and the viewer’s role in re-identifying the artwork.

Why attend: the show proposes an original investigation into the relationship between language and image, encouraging visitors to shift their viewpoint and reinterpret each work. Key series on display include portraits emerging from typographic density, masks as identity thresholds and typographic structures suggesting invisible codes.
