Historic Houses Day in Ala: what to see and how to join

On Sunday 24 May 2026 the town of Ala participates in the national Historic Houses Day: for one day the baroque historic centre opens its courtyards, gardens and halls to the public with guided tours.

This event offers a chance to discover architecture, frescoes and green spaces tied to the town's prosperous silk velvet industry era.

Essential programme

The day begins at 09:45 at Palazzo Taddei with institutional greetings. Guided tours, lasting about one and a half hours, depart from Palazzo Taddei (via Sartori) at 10:00, 14:00 and 16:00.

Tours are led by experienced guides in collaboration with local associations and the Association of Historic Houses.

Houses included in the Ala route

• Palazzo Taddei – one of the town's oldest buildings, with a Renaissance façade and decorated loggia; future home of a provincial textile arts museum.
• Palazzo Malfatti Scherer – late 19th-century neoclassical building with a grand internal staircase and frescoed salon.
• Palazzo Angelini – known as the "Palace of the Four Emperors", featuring a monumental entrance door.
• Palazzo de' Gresti Filippi – late-15th-century origins with a Baroque façade and marble portal.
• Palazzo de' Pizzini von Hochenbrunn – a complex of Baroque buildings with a large hall used for concerts.
• Palazzo de' Pizzini von Hochenbrunn di Lenna – home to the Museum of the Antique Piano, with a unique collection of historic keyboard instruments.
