European Night of Museums 2026 at the Archaeological Park of Herculaneum

The Archaeological Park of Herculaneum will take part in the 20th edition of the European Night of Museums with a special evening opening on 23 May 2026. Visitors can access collections and pavilions usually closed at night and attend a programme designed for families, schools and archaeology enthusiasts.

Main programme

• Special opening of the Antiquarium and the Boat Pavilion, featuring in-situ lessons held by the Park's scientific staff.
• Theatrical reading by the primary school "Peter Pan": "Heracles and the Lernaean Hydra", staged in dialogue with the bronze fountain representing the Hydra.
• Collective reading by students of the "Adriano Tilgher" High School: excerpts from Canto per l'Europa along the park's main access avenue.
• Educational activities linked to the local reading pact and the national campaign Il Maggio dei Libri.

Events at Villa Campolieto (Corso Resina 283)

• 20:00 — "Il piatto perfetto": visit-workshop (duration 120') exploring ancient food habits and composing a balanced plate. Designed for families and children; activity free of charge with a symbolic entrance fee of €1 to the Villa.
• 22:00 — "Panem et Condimenta": a 90' animated reading on Roman recipes, remedies and food customs; suitable for a general audience; entrance to the exhibition with a symbolic ticket of €1.
