MITA Museo Tappeto Antico presents Maramao, a solo exhibition by Caio Mario Garrubba featuring around ten vintage photographs shot in 1959 during his journey to China. The selection offers documentary and poetic views of landscapes, portraits and everyday scenes from a country undergoing profound change.
Curated by Renato Corsini in collaboration with Italian photographic institutions, the exhibition highlights Garrubba's reportage approach: vintage prints that convey the textures, contrasts and compositional choices characteristic of his visual language. The selected works document everyday moments and historical snapshots of China in 1959, inviting visitors to consider the relationship between documentary practice and visual memory.
The exhibition is presented within a broader display focused on Chinese textile arts, creating a dialogue between photography and textile objects and expanding the cultural narrative told through images and artifacts.
Practical information: please check the museum's official channels for opening hours and ticketing. Attending the vernissage is recommended for those who wish to meet the curators and gain further insight into the exhibition.
