Chiusi della Verna: historical, artistic and spiritual walk to the Sanctuary of La Verna

On Saturday 28 March 2026 a guided walk departs from La Beccia to the Sanctuary of La Verna, combining natural scenery with historical and artistic insights. The event is free and open to all.

Program

• Meeting point: La Beccia car park at 15:00. Opening remarks and start of the walk.
• First session: historical talk on the concept of time and the shift from the Julian to the Gregorian calendar, including the reform introduced by Grand Duke Francesco III of Lorraine.
• Walk through nature: trail to the sanctuary with a stop at the Antico Orto dei Frati, led by Cooperativa Inquiete, linking nature and spirituality.
• Art visit: guided explanation of works associated with the Della Robbia workshop found across the Franciscan sanctuary.

Organization and purpose

The initiative is organized by the Municipality of Chiusi della Verna together with the Unione dei Comuni Montani del Casentino as part of the "Capodanno dell'Annunciazione 2026" program. The aim is to promote the cultural and natural heritage of the village, offering residents and visitors an accessible experience focused on local history and sacred art.
