What to see in Bondone

The heart of the village is its medieval historic center, where perfectly preserved rural architecture can be admired. Strolling through the alleys, it is impossible not to notice the Church of San Bartolomeo, a source of spirituality for the entire community, which houses works of great artistic and spiritual value.

Also worth seeing are the frescoes on the façades, such as the one in Via Giusti depicting the Madonna on the Throne nursing the Child Jesus, and the satirical one in Via Baroni.

Not to be missed is the visit to the Castle of San Giovanni, a fortress dominating the entire valley thanks to its strategic position. From here, the gaze stretches over the mountains and the whole basin of Lake Idro, making the visit an unforgettable experience.

Traditions and events

The village of Bondone has a strong cultural identity, nourished by centuries-old traditions and historical festivities. Among the most important is the Patronal Feast of San Bartolomeo, celebrated at the end of August. During this event, the village comes alive with music, dancing, and tastings of typical local dishes, all prepared according to tradition.

Also unmissable is the renowned event Bondone in Strada, held on the second weekend of August, which brings international artists into the streets, turning Bondone into an open-air theater with performances in every square and alley.

Equally noteworthy is Christmas in the Village, a festival that, throughout the holiday season, decorates Bondone with over 100 nativity scenes displayed along the streets, accompanied by cultural and gastronomic events.
