Venice Biennale: Alda Boscaro at the Pavilion of the Republic of Guinea
When: official inauguration on May 8; public opening on May 9; on view until November 22, 2026.
Alda Boscaro participates in the 61st Venice Art Biennale within the Pavilion of the Republic of Guinea, located on the island of San Servolo. Curated by Carlo Stragapede and conceived by Giancarlo Caneva and Walter Drescig, the pavilion brings together 67 contemporary artists to create a dialogue between Guinean materials and European artistic practices.
Works on display
Among Boscaro’s contributions is Interno / Esterno (oil on canvas, 1984), from the series "Man and Environment." The painting examines the permeability between private interiors and the urban context through layered, material painting where figure, color and structure become tools to reflect on dwelling and identity.
Why visit the pavilion
- It marks the Republic of Guinea's first historical participation in the Venice Biennale.
- The exhibition fosters a cross-cultural conversation, offering an international perspective on contemporary art.
- Installed at San Servolo, a site with strong symbolic resonance, the pavilion amplifies the dialogue between memory and current artistic practices.
Practical information
The pavilion opens to the public on May 9, 2026 and is on view until November 22, 2026. Check the official Biennale channels and San Servolo information for opening hours, tickets and guided visits before planning your trip.
This exhibition is of particular interest to those following contemporary painting and research on the relationship between body, space and memory: Boscaro’s work proposes a material and reflective approach that engages with urban and housing issues still central to artistic debate today.
