Bassano in Teverina: urban regeneration at the heart of the village

The municipality of Bassano in Teverina has received approval for a regeneration project in the historic centre that will convert an abandoned building—transferred free of charge from the National Agency for Assets Confiscated from Organized Crime—into a public facility for the community.

The operation is financed by the State and will not entail costs for the municipality. It stems from more than a decade of administrative work and has symbolic value as the return of a property to the community.

Planned interventions

• Demolition of the existing shell and reconstruction of a new storage-garage for municipal vehicles and materials of local associations.
• Relocation of the municipal active archive within the new structure, freeing space to expand the public library.
• Conversion of a slab into a square-car park dedicated to judges Giovanni Falcone and Paolo Borsellino and all victims of the mafias.
• Roadworks in the immediate area (widening of via Po and via Piave) through agreements with private owners and targeted demolitions to improve traffic flow and safety.
