"I Visionari": Emanuele Giannelli's solo show opens in Barga

Opening ceremony: Saturday 9 May 2026, 18:00 at Porta Reale. The Oxo Gallery exhibition opens at 19:00.

The historic town of Barga (LU) hosts "I Visionari", a dispersed exhibition by sculptor Emanuele Giannelli. The project combines large-scale outdoor installations with an indoor exhibition at the Oxo Gallery (Piazza del Comune, 5). The initiative is promoted by the Municipality of Barga with "I Borghi più belli d'Italia", Oxo Collection and the artist, under the patronage of the Tuscany Region.

Works and locations

  • Porta Reale – central installation visible from afar (Korf).
  • Viale Marconi (octagonal square) – Mr Arbitrium Mirrored, the tallest piece, looking towards the valley.
  • Palazzo Balduini, via di Mezzo – Gravity Mirrored.
  • Under the Menchi vault – Sospeso and Mr. Kiribati.
  • Participating restaurants and venues: Da Alfonso (two Korf), Scacciaguai (Monkey Tribu), Wine Not? (Hotel a Capsule).
  • Art boutique hotel Acchiappasogni – The Watcher and Mr. Arbitrium.
  • Additional works in the surrounding valley and at the Unipol agency premises in Castelnuovo di Garfagnana and Fornaci di Barga.

Visitor information

Outdoor sculptures form a monumentally scaled route with free 24/7 access. The indoor exhibition at Oxo Gallery (Piazza del Comune 5) follows scheduled opening hours; visitors are advised to check gallery times before arrival.

The project creates a conversation between contemporary art and the town's historic fabric. Giannelli describes these works as "visionaries" that reflect on progress, technology and future imaginaries. The exhibition is an occasion for cultural tourism combining art, historic sites and local hospitality.
