Artist Nuccio Loreti has placed an installation titled Scatto rosa in Piazza Matteotti, close to the Monumento al Cavatore. The piece, crafted from stylized iron, depicts the silhouette of a cyclist and is dedicated to the start of a Giro d'Italia stage departing from the regional capital.
According to the artist, the work aims to connect the race's symbol with the city's identity: flowing lines evoke the cyclist's speed and the profile of the three hills on which the city stands. Its open structure allows light and sight to pass through, integrating natural elements such as wind and sea into the sculpture's perception.
The installation functions not only as a depiction of the race but as a meeting point between sport, territory and memory: a contemporary element placed in the urban core, designed to be visually traversed and experienced as part of the local landscape.
Location: Piazza Giacomo Matteotti, 15, 88100 Catanzaro CZ, Italia
