Arona: three multimedia stations enhance the Archaeological Museum

Three new multimedia stations are now active inside the “Khaled al‑Asaad” Archaeological Museum in Piazza San Graziano, aimed at strengthening the museum's cultural and educational offerings.

The initiative, promoted by the Ministry of Tourism, focuses on promoting and valorising Italian sites, in particular the UNESCO pile‑dwellings, and local archaeological finds.

  • Displayed content: information about Golasecca culture finds, the cast of the Mercurago wheel (considered among the oldest in the world), and Celtic tombs discovered at Dormelletto.
  • Project team: artistic direction by Michele Scaciga; IT support by Mauro Colnaghi; archaeological consultancy by Elena Poletti; research contributions from Claudia Dossena (Dicolab Cultura al Digitale / Istud Business School); and input from the Superintendency via Lucia Mordeglia.
  • Local notes: Councillor Davide Casazza highlighted the value of the funding and noted the project involves several Alpine municipalities and will continue with further technological and scientific development; municipal greetings were delivered by Deputy Mayor Marina Grassani.

The stations are available during museum opening hours and aim to make the area's archaeological heritage more accessible by integrating display cases with multimedia paths and in‑depth content.
