The call for entries for the sixth edition of the Tratturo Magno International Literary Prize has been published. Promoted by the Tratturo Magno 4.0 Association, the prize invites Italian and international authors to engage with the Tratturo Magno (L'Aquila–Foggia) and the cultural heritage of transhumance.
The call (published 25 March 2026) was presented at the Sala “Caduti di Nassirya” of the Italian Senate. The competition accepts submissions in multiple languages and also encourages participation from descendants of Italian emigrant communities of the 19th and 20th centuries.
The prize aims to safeguard the historical memory of transhumance, raise awareness of the territory and its excellences, and encourage sustainable development projects for the inland areas crossed by the tratturo. The Projects section is designed to collect concrete proposals to valorise production chains, shepherds' routes and traditional practices as assets for contemporary development.
The Prize is twinned with the literary competition "Il Rovo" of Cagnano Varano to strengthen cultural ties among Abruzzo, Molise and Puglia. The full call and regulations are available online; interested parties should submit entries by email following the instructions in the call.
