“Le Voci Fuori”: mapping LGBTQIA+ discrimination in Empolese Valdelsa begins

Presented at Palazzo Strozzi Sacrati, Le Voci Fuori is a new initiative led by the Municipality of Empoli with the participation of the eleven municipalities of the Empolese Valdelsa area. Supported by the Region through the RE.A.DY network and by the participating municipalities, the project aims to map discrimination experienced by LGBTQIA+ people locally and to develop targeted prevention and awareness measures.

Partners include Arcigay Firenze Altre Sponde, Sociolab – Società Cooperativa and the association Scomodo Empoli. The participating municipalities allocated a total of €24,142 to the initiative.

  • Planned activities: voluntary questionnaire-based mapping of discrimination incidents, an awareness campaign, widespread events and training activities;
  • Timeline: the project will run throughout the year, with public events including activities around May 17, the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia;
  • Partners' roles: Arcigay coordinates territorial outreach; Sociolab provides social research and data analysis; Scomodo strengthens local meeting and support spaces.

Local officials and project representatives stressed that understanding where and how discrimination occurs is crucial to designing effective interventions. Citizens are encouraged to take part and share experiences to help build a more inclusive and aware community.
